Who are we?

Qld Home Buyers Inspection Service & Qld Building Inspection Service (QBIS) are the longest serving Building Inspection Services in Brisbane. Peter Weddell has always been the owner/operator and has served the community of Brisbane with detailed and independent building inspection reports since 1981.  

About Peter Weddell.

  • Started work for Vaughan Constructions Pty Ltd in late 1966 on commercial properties.
  • Left Vaughan Constructions middle of 1967 to work for G.W. Edwards, a commercial and domestic builder.
  • Under G.W. Edwards, built, altered, extended and renovated all types of buildings small and large.
  • Studied carpentry and joinery also diploma course of building construction from 1967 to 1972.
  • Achieved Victoria Master Builders Association, apprentice of the year award in 1972
  • Became self-employed from 1972.
  • In 1977, became an unrestricted licenced builder in both Commercial and Domestic building.
  • Joined the Victorian Master builders Association in 1977.
  • Started own company Weddell Constructions Pty Ltd in 1977.
  • Started building inspections in 1978.
  • Left Melbourne in 1981 for Queensland.
  • Joined the Queensland Master Builders Association in 1981 as a full member.
  • Became an unrestricted domestic Queensland licensed builder in 1981 through the QBSA (now the QBCC) .
  • Started Qld Home Buyers Inspection service in Paddington in 1981.
  • Became an unrestricted commercial Queensland QBSA licensed builder in 1992.
  • Became a founding member of the Qld Master Builders, Institute of Building Consultants as a membership adjudicator in 1995.
  • Currently operates the longest serving independent building inspection service in Brisbane.

What type of inspections do we carry out?

  • Pre-sale: Be prewarned about problems that may hinder a sale and what to have rectified or replaced before listing your property.
  • Pre-auction: Advantage over other bidders by knowing beforehand the true condition of the buildings and property.
  • Pre-purchase: When buying a property to be made aware of its condition with comparisons to others with similar problems.
  • New building completion: (otherwise known as hand-over reports) to be aware of problems with suggestions on preventative maintenance.
  • Condition reports: Identify problems that require immediate attention, replacing and/or maintenance.
  • Before signing a contract to buy: This allows a buyer to determine whether the price they were considering is fair taking into consideration major problems they were unaware of before committing to a price to purchase.

You will receive a maintenance and defects report regarding the property and buildings from top to bottom with numerous photos and detailed explanation.

The report is written in plain English with easy to understand terminology also a glossary of terms and illustrations with useful information, throughout. The report more than exceeds the Australian Standard AS 4349.1.
